Public Health protection measures for COVID-19 at our hotel

Virus symptoms and high-risk groups

The symptoms that occur in patients with COVID-19 virus are mainly:

  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fever

but sometimes

  • Muscle pain
  • Joint pain
  • Feeling tired
  • Diarrhea and vomiting (less common)

High-risk groups for severe COVID-19 infection are people over the age of 70 or of any age with major serious chronic diseases (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory disease) and people with immunosuppression.

Precautions taken by the hotel

We always keep the quality of our services high. That’s why, in addition to the usual cleaning work that already takes place in the hotel, we apply all the new disinfection and cleaning measures that concern the protection of Public Health.

So, according to the instructions of the State, for the safety of us all, we ventilate and disinfect the common areas of the hotel regularly during the day.

We regularly check the proper functionality of water supply systems and always make sure that liquid soap is available in shared bathrooms. We also provide all guests with personal hygiene products and make sure there is always antiseptic on the hotel premises.

We have changed the policy on Check-in and Check-out times, after 15:00 and until 11:00 respectively. We follow special protocols on meal preparation and stay informed of any new relevant State guidelines.

Also, in the hotel area there are the following consumables available for the protection of Public Health:

  • Thermometers (non-mercury, digital thermometers).
  • Disposable paper napkins
  • Single-use gloves
  • Plastic bags to dispose used personal protective equipment and tissues or to collect contaminated items that need to be washed or disinfected.
  • Disposable plastic cups.
  • Bottles of alcoholic solution with infusion pump and base.
  • Disinfectants for spaces and surfaces (eg. household bleach) and object disinfectants that evaporate easily (eg alcohol).

The management of the hotel keeps a record of the staff members and all the people who stayed in the hotel – name, nationality, date of arrival and departure, contact details (address, phone, e-mail) – so that it is possible to communicate with close contacts of any COVID-19 case, which may be identified afterwards.

Measures that each guest must take during their stay

Every guest who is accommodated in the facilities of our hotel should behave accordingly, to protect Public Health in our premises. Specifically, it must comply with the following measures:

  1. Careful hand hygiene. Frequent hand washing with soap and water is recommended. If the hands are not visibly soiled, alcoholic solution (eg alcohol) may be used as an alternative.
  2. Meticulous observance of hygiene measures such as covering the mouth and nose with a tissue during coughing or sneezing.
  3. Avoid contact of the hands with the mouth, nose or eyes to prevent the spread of germs.
  4. Avoid close contact (1-2 meters) with people who have symptoms of a respiratory infection.

Measures to be taken in the event of a possible virus case within the hotel facility

If a guest is found to be eligible for COVID-19 case definition, the hotel health officer shall immediately contact the EODY stating the suspected case.

The instructions that will be given to the potential COVID-19 patient and the actions on the part of the hotel are the following:

  1. The patient should remain in his room with the room door closed.
  2. If the patient shows symptoms of a respiratory infection (cough, sneezing, runny nose), a simple surgical mask and tissues will be available immediately.
  3. If there is a companion of the patient, who wishes to stay close to him/her to take care of him/her (eg spouse), he/she will be given a simple surgical mask and will be advised to wash hands, every time he/she comes in contact with secretions of the patient (eg saliva) and definitely before the attendant touches his/her face or eats or drinks.
  4. Entry into the patient’s room by staff and other people will generally be avoided if there is no significant reason. If necessary, a member of the hotel staff will deal exclusively with the possible suspected case.
  5. The protective equipment used (simple surgical mask, gloves) will be discarded in a bucket and in no case will it be reused.
  6. After discarding the protective equipment, the hands will be thoroughly washed with soap and water. It is emphasized that the use of gloves does not replace hand washing, which is a very important mean of prevention.

Guests can also contact EODY for more information on the implementation of these measures and please follow these instructions in all areas of the hotel.

 Thank you.
